1962 15 Window Deluxe, Lowered, Logos, and Hursts! The roof rack has been sold.
Here's a Bus with loads of cool factor. It is a 15 Window Deluxe with a patinaed original-looking paint scheme in the correct original colors of Sealing Wax Red and Light Beige Grey, has recently applied vintage style Hot Rod Snowmobile Shop logos all over it, a set of new Hurst bumpers, safari windows, and a early industrial metal roof rack. Other highlights include being a factory 6 popout Bus with correct original spoon popout latches, narrowed adjustable beam, dropped spindles, straight axle rear, new low profile tires, mostly original Sigla glass with the exception of the safaris (a couple pieces have cracks in them), and a great running 1600 single port engine with 12 volt electrics. This one was built to be driven and runs, rides, and drives great.
The body is nice and clean, dry, solid as a rock, and has no rust besides a little surface rust in the rain gutters where some small patches of paint have peeled away. There is a little surface rust on the front floors but no holes. The rockers and cargo floor were recently professionally replaced and are beautiful. The early doglegs are great and the nose is near mint. It is very straight and clean with no signs of accidents anywhere. The undercarriage is clean and dry as well as you can see from the pics. The divider wall was removed by a previous owner years ago but we could fix that at an additional cost if the new owner wants that work performed.
The interior features a clean original paint dash with radio block off plate, early dash clock, correct Deluxe grab handle, original cab door panels, and a nice original upholstery Deluxe rear seat complete with the correct luggage bar. We have a beautiful correct original 1962/1963 thin rubber grab handle with original upholstery middle seat as well that could be added at an extra cost if desired. If the new owner would like the work performed we could have a mohair headliner, door panel set, rear floor mat, divider wall, and correct front seat all installed, all at an additional cost. Those items would certainly add a good amount of value to the Bus but we figured we'd offer it as it is in order to keep the price more attractive.
Mechanically this Bus is an excellent driver. It has a great running 1600 single port engine and has been converted to 12 volts for added reliability as well. The Bus has been properly lowered via a narrowed adjustable beam with dropped spindles, straight axle rear, and features a freshly rebuilt braking system, new low profile tires, original 15 inch Bus wheels with new chrome hubcaps with painted logos (it will come with the stock painted logo caps shown in the later pictures in the album). It starts right up, idles smoothly, rides great, and is ready to drive anywhere.
A great deal of work has been performed to bring this 15 Window to this cool state. It has a great style and vintage vibe that is certain to get a lot of positive attention.
