• My "lower supports" might be just tad outboard. Another inch closer together might have been a good idea. See the RED CIRCLES.
• There are some contours on the sheet metal where your pipes will butt to the floor, up front, by the brake fluid reservoir. You'll have to cut some little notches out of the ends of those pipes with a grinder to make them seat flush. BLUE CIRCLES.
• After all was said and done. I LOVE my conversion. I realized though that I really didn't need to make those big top-rails at all. I was kind of simulating the partial bulkhead you see in some busses. But really, you could just make the lower part and skip the whole "wall" thing. Just a thought. GREEN CIRCLES.
• Don't cut your old bulkhead out 100%. Leave two triengle-shaped gussets at the bottom of the B-pillar for support. This has been suggested by a lot of people and the factory no-bulkhead buses have a similar support here. PURPLE CIRCLES.
• WHITE CIRCLES show where I welded in tabs/nuts for the seat belts. I used the original nuts from the the metal that I removed. Make 'em strong! Some people in the sand-rail forum suggested that the whole structure shouldn't be welded directly to the floor sheet metal alone. They said that you should weld base plates to the ends of your pipes and bolt those through the floor to doubles on the other side. I asked them because they know a thing or two about roll cages and such. Sounds like a good idea. They did say that my seat belt nuts looked good and strong.
