porsche tool kit messko tire gauge variants
oldvdub
pictured here are just a couple correct porsche 356 tool kit messko tire gauges. although the tire gauge is often found in the tool kit-it was not placed in the tool kit itself but carried in the glovebox with the driver manual-fuses-glycerin bottle. there are many versions of the messko tire gauge. some for the american market where we use p.s.i. and some for the euro/metric-a.t.u. oriented coutries and also a version with both-the popular 'dual-gauge'.

porsche 356 tool kit screwdriver lineage
oldvdub
various screwdrivers as found in 356 factory supplied tool kits. these are my observations spanning a 44 year period and hundreds of kits from original owners-restored one-family cars-shared information from other 356 collectors. from left to right-early 356 1951-52(marked and unmarked versions found), 1953-54 jorg 'sized mm series', 1955-56(early) jorg 1661, 1956-1961 jorg 1660/1 #7(note: variations of plated/non-plated shafts, painted grooves handle/non-painted groove handles). the jorg #7 is by far the most popular screwdriver and a develpoment of the previous 2 mentioned. jorg had the sized versions-example: 125x6 or 7(the 6 or 7 denotes the width of the blade tip-'din' thing). jorg manufactured the 1660 and 1661 along side each other-one has the shaft thru the handle-the other does not. the 1661 had the 'schlag-cap' (top of handle had metal area to allow 'hammering'). the jorg #7 made a compromise with only the shaft coming thru the handle end-i suspect a cost factor to provide a strong yet economical to build piece.

hazet 763 logo detail
oldvdub
hazet 763 logo details: logo does not appear on first 763 as it is mid-way on shaft. 2nd 763 is the 1957 version, 3rd 763 the 1958-61 version, 4th 763 is the replacement(built prior to 1964 logo change-same 763 built with later all caps logo-HAZET-to about 1980-not pictured here).

hazet 763 sparkplug tube socket pre '64 versions
oldvdub
hazet 763 sparkplug tube sockets-circa 1956='Hazet' stamped lengthwise along shaft.(note:previous version of this shaft marked 763 were in nickel prior to 356a tool kits.). 1957='Hazet 763 germany' stamped near head on shaft-top of lettering near head. 1958-1961='Hazet 763 germany' stamped near head on shaft-top of lettering away from head. 1962-1964='Hazet 763 germany/20.8 13/16' stamped on head-top of lettering away from end. note:this is not a tool kit issue but a replacement available thru Hazet distributors or porsche dealers as a replacement for a lost piece. these were found at dealerships into the late 1960's and early 1970's-as with all replacement tool kit items they were very expensive in their day-usually by special order.
