By using a .110 disconnect (with locking tab), the normally un-used aperture for terminal SU in the ignition switch harness can be used to power the (usually red) accessory lead of most aftermarket radios.
Terminal SU provides +12V when the key is in the ignition switch, even with the ignition switched off. It can be used to operate a standard Bosch type relay to limit current across the ignition switch contacts.
This setup allows radio operation with the key in, but switched off. Removing the key cuts accessory power, shutting off the radio. |
