1971 Super Beetle Fuel Tank Strainer Filter Posted: Sat Sep 20, 2014 9:11 pm     Views: 34      Rating: Not rated

There IS a brass strainer/Filter inside the gas tank on my 1971 Super Beetle. As far as I can tell it is stock and no vendors carry a replacement.

Here it is in all it fuel filtering glory! The filter on the left was the original one that was broken. The filter on the right is the one I created from a standard beetle brass filter.

Ready for 40 years of use.

NOTE: don't put the newly created filter back on the metal fuel pick up tube until after you cleaned out and sealed the tank...that is if you are doing that.
