Illustration of oil pickup tube, washer, velocity stack CFD, for forum Posted: Fri Sep 23, 2016 4:59 pm     Views: 562      Rating: 10

A very rough CFDish sketch of oil flow up a pickup tube. This is to illustrate how a washer can prevent slurping, by protecting or "blocking the path" from the oil surface to the high velocity areas at the sharp edges of the tube.
Notice flow may be unstable and stick to one side of the tube, this is coanda type thing, this means one side may have higher velocity than the other randomly.
The washer does not fix this, but if you round the edges, it will fix that..
