alright i have a 1964 bug, it has a rebuilt 1641 with 2000 miles on it, it ran very well up until the other morning. I drove it for a good 4-5 hours the day before it didnt want to run. Ok, heres my problem. it starts right up, but if i let my foot off the gas it dies. I took apart my carburetor, cleaned out all the jets and what not. I adjusted my idle so it idles a little high to see what that would do, it stays running for a few seconds then dies. Does anyone know what is wrong????? Any advice would help!! Thanks, Mike.

Not sure what carb/carbs you have, but i would say that there's dirt in the idle circuit, or the electric idling jet(if so equipped) isn't working. If it ran fine the last time you drove it, and it happened that suddenly, I would saydirt is the culprit. Look VERY carefully at the idle circuit.

I'd check the fuel shutoff valve on the carb, & check for air leaks.

Also the fuel pump and filter.
