I just bought a 69 sqareback and I'm trying to locate the vin #. I found the tag on the front apron (not readable) is there a stamp on the body? |

Lift up the rear seat and look at the frame tunnel just forward of the opening and you should see the vin number in the area without the tar mat |

That was too easy. I new that because of the bugs vin. I guess I was thinking it would be in a different place with the type 3's. As soon as I can figure out how to post a photo I'll get one up. Basically I have a shell at this point. A 2-3 year project for this guy! |

If the car still has/had the padded dash cover, there would be a tag riveted to that, on the driver's side, on all 1968 and up VWs. |

I did some light sanding on apron tag (it was covered in paint) there was just enough indent left in the tag were I could make out the VIN (THE PAN & BODY MATCH) in the stripped condition of the car this is a good thing! |
