View original topic: Can't find Reverse

I had a Gene Berg locking shifter in my car. It worked perfectly in ever way. But now that I'm selling the car, I removed the shifter and replaced it with a stock shifter. It shifts fine through the gears (1st - 4th) but I can't get into reverse? Any suggestions? And yes, the reverse lock-out plate is installed correctly. The turned-up side is on the right (closer to the passenger)

Are you pushing straight down on the shifter while moving it to the left?

Try losening both screws slightly and attempting to put into reverse.
Moving the mounting slightly may help.
Do you have a quickshift installed?
They can sometimes make adjustment a little difficult.

Do the reverse lights come on when you try to put it in gear? Does it feel like it's in there and just won't move like neutral? I have the same problem. I'm working on it this weekend. I'll post results in here then. Good luck.

Could be a worn shift coupler.

move shift housing slightly towards passenger side. try again.(always move opposite of direction shift knob moves when having trouble)
