The problem with PMR is they're all about looks. They don't care about the mechanicals.
All these guys with large wheels don't realize that they have to upgrade the brakes so they can stop.
I hope you didn't pay too much because I'm sure you'll need to dump some cash into it to resolve what they didn't fix.
good luck. |

I hate to show you this, but you may want to read our opinions of it when it first went on ebay
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=87573
The car is a 1960. you have linkpin front suspension and swing axle rear. The reason you are seeing so much camber when you lift it, is because this suspension was designed for its simplicity, nothing else. The axles only pivot at the transaxle causing your wheels to always be perpendicular to the angle of the axle.
My suggestion to you if you really want to do off-roading with this car: take off all the bullshit that they installed for the TV show and get some good all-terrain tires. If you sell all the crap put in place by WCC, you can make a pretty penny and still have a decent looking car that will perform about ten times better than it does now. |

Well, if it's a promo for your business, i suggest you leave it alone and don't attempt to drive it.
If you want to go off road... get a real vehicle.
Did you see how they "fixed" the Split Bus? They used sheetrock corner bead and bondo. You should have a qualified VW mechanic give the car a complete once over. You have no idea the condition of the brakes, floor pan and suspension.
And remember PMR is all about the looks. |

| Thanks to both of you . I am actually driving it on the street only . I have no plans to off-road it at all . I have a second bug i may do all off road but thats in time . I will be showing it up and down the east coast for this year before i strip the system and redo it with my products. i just want to make it streetable for right now. And i jut read that whole post . Man i didnt realize how much VW guys hate this car . I feel like they will run me out of here with burning torches and pitch forks |

Nothing personal but most of the "hard core" guys like "quality" work and the the crap "Pimp" stuff PMR puts out.
Plan on spending some money and get the mechanicals straighten out.
I'm located in the North East, so i'll have to check it out.
Here's your east coast competition...

| I say put some nice disk brakes on that thing and drive it. It may not be what we would build if it were ours, but if its making your company money I say drive it. |

I would like to get the camber fixed as well . it rides like a brick with square wheels :) WCC hackers just do the inside and nothing to actually make the car better. She said she was driving it 100 miles a day ! i cant even stand to drive it up the street and back with out worrying about it beating me to death . I need to make it safe first . |
