Do any of you know a source for a thermostat for my '67 Beetle? Aircooled.net is out of them. Looks like CIP1 has thermostats in stock, but not the brackets or connecting rods. I need the whole setup. Thanks. |

The Wolfsburg West listings say their thermostats "fit all engines through 1964." |

The thermostat is a round brass coil spring mounted on a bracket underneath cylinders 1 & 2. There is a threaded rod exiting the top of the thermostat that attaches to the cooling flaps inside the fan shroud or to the air control ring depending upon the engine you have. I had a veteran VW yard guy tell me once that aircooled VW's did not have thermostats. Being a wise #$$ I looked aorund in the yard until I found an assembly at which point he wanted to charge me $60 for it. I told him he should pay me since I just educated him and then I left. |
