No there's plenty of room for the air to travel.

I'm looking for some input on restoring mine. I'd like to have it on my new project at Vegas but it looks a little rough.

Any input??

Oh damn brutha's , sambanista's and fellow collector's of the odd & rare. I heard through the So.CAl. Grapevine that a couple of guy's from Ensenada Mexico are saying that they invented the Jim Dandy rack :shock: and will be reproducing them to sell. Be carefull when purchasing one of these rack's. Make sure to get detailed pic's and compare them to the pic's on this thread or just ask someone for pic's of there rack. Don't get caught slipping and paying butt loads of $$$ for a fake. BUYER BEWARE ! :x

Dayummm ! That's a serious comeup for a free rack :D I know he'll get close to it too because Jason and greg both paid $1K for there's well I know Jason did but not sure what greg paid. I was offered to sell mine today at the show but he didn't know what to offer and I told him I was offered over $1K and he didn't flinch and he said he would consider it as he really liked the rack. Like I said when I started this thread you either love them or HATE them :evil: But I'm not selling mine anytime soon :wink:

Hey bro, These racks are built right !!!!! I used it for my swapmeets trips to pomona I had at one time packed it down with 5 rader rims 5 o.g. empi 5spokes and an oval clip on that rack alone when I got to Pomona everyone thought I was insane!!! and it held up just fine cruising down the 10 frwy at 70 MPH. I'll never sell that rack I'm sure my kids will when I keel over.

yeah bro :?: Last sunday at the dragday show in Irwindale was the first time I used it since I got rid of my oval rag. It looked good but the bummer was I couldn't really load it up like I used to cuz the lever shock's on my split are crappy and tend to dip alot and tear my A-1 muffler to shred's :cry: .

Was in a tight spot for money so I put it up for sale. I debated for a week before I posted it. I really didnt want to sell it but if I got a bite or even a single offer I would of considered it. I knew if I put it up for $1200 It may have sold. It was more for my wifes benefit that I tried to sell it. I was waiting for just one p.m. even slamming me on the price. But not a a single p.m. or E-mail. Dissapointed but also Happy I didnt get one.

I dont have a whole lot of cool things VW related but my JD Rack and Cornerstone pin. And I didnt really want to sell the rack. And I wasnt fishing for prices just to list it on Ebay.

If you were patient enuff you would of gotten a serious offer. Patience when selling stuff like the rack ya got. That stuff is super rare and only the serious collector will consider buying it. I won't sell mine but next time you want to sell it just let me know as I have a few people who'll pay ya $1200 for it :wink: The one that greg bought was on the samba for about 1 month Jason took about 1 month also to get the one in AZ. I Honestly think that you would of gotten the $1500.00 :D if you kept it on :D

Naked - I've seen you cruising around with that thing on the car. You gotta stop that homie, there are plenty of fools in sac that know what it is and wouldn't think twice about making your rack their rack. just a thought

Thanks Erik, I will give it some thought. I never go out anywhere with it. I hate even runnin into the 7/11 for a minute. Its like leaving your kid in your car. My brother keeps telling me to take my racks off. Give it a different look.
