| this weekend i'm going to trailer the old beast to amarillo, texas for a weekend of off road adventure on the canadian river. the west texas outlaws(a 4x4 club) is sponsoring a fun run, mud bogs, and sand drags on the river bed about 20 miles north of amarillo. its at least a 3 hour tow from s/w oklahoma. the place offers a few hundred acres of riding areas up and down the riverbed. i hope i dont break anything so wish me luck. photos next week! |

here are a few photos of the canadian river north of amarillo texas. my buddy and i towed the old beast there for a texas 4x4 redneck rally on the river bed. saw three other bajas and lots of sandrails, even a northstar powered long travel buggy. also saw a 4x4 z-28 camaro with t-tops! we camped out one night and rode the next day. drove the baja extra hard and managed not to tear anything up, but after the trip i ordered new king and link rebuild kits to remove some extra slop in the front end. there are literally hundred if not thousands of acres there to ride and its all free! the best part was following my 4x4 friends down the riverbed and even managed a few water crossings before i went in a hole and got the motor a little wet. on the way back i took a wrong turn and ended up getting stuck in a big old mudhole! all in all it was really good time and the old beast held up just fine! |
