problem is that the rear 15X8 rims stick out 2" and are going to hit fender. little bird says that '68 is longer than other swing axles and that changing to '66 or earlier will shorten the distance by 2". why don't they just make the rim with an offset? does anyone know the best way to fix this problem?? thanks, wirenutjd.

trim the fenders up a little.

They do. What's your offset?
Going to an earlier swing axle is giving up some strength IMO. The '67-68 box is the strongest in stock form. You would get a little lower gear. (4:375 vs. 4:125) Not worth the difference. Find a different wheel or trim the fenders like mdetro suggested.

if the rims mounting plane was center of the rim I think it would work perfect, I didn't really want to trim the fenders. thanks for the replies.
