Is the aftermarket style lock nut for the spindle better(safer) or is original (two nuts with lock washer) better?

I don't think safety is the issue - properly tightened the new style clamp nut should be fine. It's ease of adjusment, vs. originality, vs. price that should be what you consider in buying them.

| They are both safe if in good condition and adjusted properly , the aftermarket one is designed like the late model factory nut , easier to adjust . I have the CB Performance nuts on both my 61 & 58 bugs . TROY |
