Is the aftermarket style lock nut for the spindle better(safer) or is original (two nuts with lock washer) better?

Yeah, funny Bevis. "Two Nuts"

I don't think safety is the issue - properly tightened the new style clamp nut should be fine. It's ease of adjusment, vs. originality, vs. price that should be what you consider in buying them.

They are both safe if in good condition and adjusted properly , the aftermarket one is designed like the late model factory nut , easier to adjust . I have the CB Performance nuts on both my 61 & 58 bugs . TROY
