Thomas-
Thanks again buddy. I sent you a PM.
Everyone please let me know what your thoughts are on Rack and Pinion choices. Or closed Ratio 3rd & 4th. Are these "Built" type 1's pretty solid? I dont abuse my car mercilessly, but I dont want to have to buy another transaxle anytime soon. |

| Rack and Pinion is steering. You must mean Ring and Pinion. If you like the way its setup now, stick with the 4.37. If you get the close 3 and 4 dont forget that 3K rpm may turn in to 3.5K or 4K while going 65. |

Yeah my fault. Ring and Pinion. All these new terms are getting jumbled up in there. So the close ratio 3rd and 4th would kill my cruising speed? I dont really know what close ratio means there. I think I would be fine with just a regular 4.37 RING and Pinion without close ratio since I rarely ever go fast enough offroad to use 3rd and 4th. I am more of a putting around climbing over stuff kind of guy than full bore 60mph offroading. Just becuase I dont have any large flat areas to go offroading closely. Someday.
Is this a good setup for the price them?

And here is the close ratio option. I think everything else is the same though. I dont think I will go this route if it will kill my highway speed cruisability.

Any opinions on CB performance as a place to purchase a tranny from. Also, I Found the reciept from my current transmission. Aparently there is a super diff in there. So, I guess it probably wasnt the spider gears that got messed up.
My tranny is pretty well built then, and it went out pretty easily. Do you guys think the transmissions I am looking into will be strong enough to handle just about anything I throw at it?
If I really need to go the 091 route, I would rather do it once and do it right. Though it would be very difficult, if it will be considerable stronger than a type 1, I may have to go that route for peice of mind. |
