| Just got a new project. It's a 1970 destined for a baja facelift. It has disc brakes up front. Any concerns or advice about the durability and performance of the disc brakes. Would you replace with drums or do I have no worries? |

| No, Discs are good. Just make sure they are in good condition, pads, rotor, and calipers. Are there disks on the rear also? |

| No discs on rear. Will that affect bleeding the brakes or even the braking efficiency? |

| i KNOW lots of people who have that set up. disc up front and drum in back, I never had a problem with the bleeding or brake fad. i would also check the barrings. just pull off the disc and see how they are. I snaped a spindel once becasue i forgot to pack the bearings. that was a bad night!!!! |

ordcorpdw's bug is curently at my house...
He hasn't seen it like this yet
As for the disk brake issue??
The front end looks like a recent rebuild 8) but we will go thru everything again.
I test fitted a white spoke steel wheel on the front to check if the wheel was straight...and it hit the caliper??
What are other people running on there disk front Bajas?? |

| The caliper on the cheep disk set up will interfere with "wagon wheel" rims. I had to go back to stock on mine. |

That might be an option??
Set you 2 and sell him the other 2
I also have a friend that has a set (2 fronts) true centerlines...I think he was looking to get $200 for the pair?
They look like new. |

| rterfert, what the crap I didn't say baja I wanted a new street bug. :D Just kidding. Don't go and do any of the fun stuff without me. You can really see the front end damage on that thing. I can't wait to put those beards in and try out the seatbelts. Thats trying the belts for fit not holding me in the car capabilities. Good stuff. |

Yes, This place is in Southern California and is popular for their disk brake kits. I have a rear kit on my baja, for about 5 years now. I am gonna get fronts soon.

| Shug, the kit from SoCal imports is pretty good for the price. I went with the 3 inch raised spindleson my class 11 car. No problems so far. Rterfert, I am running stock ghia disc brakes on my baja, I am using Riviera wheels. These wheels rubbed, but I used some aluminum spacers, and had to grind a little off of the calipers, now everything is ok. By the way are you guys in Yuma? Later,Mitch. |

Yes we are in Yuma.
if the centerline wheels still hit the caliper....We might just go back to drum brakes and the white spoke wheels for now to get on the road again. |
