Just bought my first covertable (73 Super Beetle) and am trying to learn about it. (i usually stick with split buses)
Should the decklid have a rain catcher like early verts? Seams like it should. How do you tell which one will fit/is suposed to be for a 73 super beetle?
Window frames. My drivers side has a crack just above the wing window. Is that common? Is that easy to fix or is it better to replace it? (Asside from the fact that it will need chrome)
Looking forward to getting it on the road. It has been in storrage for the last 10+ years and is ready to see a So. Cal summer again.
Thanks |

The 72 and later decklids with with 4 sets of vents did not come with a rain tray. the earlier vert and 70-71 regular bug decklids did.
There are several styles of "external" plastic covers to fit these later decklids to keep the rain out.
You could have the wing vent frame welded and re-chromed but it might be alot cheaper to find a good used one. Check the classifieds on this site they pop up from time to time. Or since your in CA you should have alot easier time finding parts than some areas of the country. |
