aight here is my delema i have a 64 sunroof beetle that has like under 5000 miles on it cause it was crashed in the sixties and stored since. it will need a new front clip which i have and a left floor pan and the passanger heater chanel other than that there is no rust and the engine still is seized but no problem. i am 19 and been a beetle fan all my life i grew up with them me and my dad wrenching on them. the thing that is cool is i havbe all these parts from our old baja that we sold the body and pan and kept the rest so i have a 63 type 2 tranny, the reduction boxes and john johnson reduction box set for no wheel hop so uyou can get bout 3 inches of lift and a crap load of good parts. i have wanted to make a baja for a while but its not in me to butcher a under 5000 mile car for it can anyone help me or give input on weather it is right to baja it or not. oh it still has the original tires to

look for a late model. you'll be much happier with IRS. and i'm sure theres plenty of people looking for that bus redux setup, you might be able to sell it pretty quickly.

save it.

ditto on HBB's advice.
If you sell the project and all your swing axle baja parts, you'll have the funds to build a killer IRS baja, AND someone else will have a time machine to restore. win/win all the way around.

eh is there like any year in pitticular that is great for irs. and is it possible to put reduction boxes on irs? like i want the best affordable parts and like i have lots of metal fab skills to make a killer ride by moddy stock stuff. any input will be greatly appreciated

early IRS cars with the dual spring plates are usually a good start. and as far as i know, you cant run redux boxes on IRS. they solved that probelm for the lat model busses by gearing them way down

Restore it, You want your baja to have an IRS rear end. :)

How come there is no option 3?

Sell it off to a vintage boy and finance a baja.
