It will take some time to get used to shifting since first will now be under reverse... I will be putting it in this weekend... hope evrything works right...  |

| I'm guessing that the Gene Berg short-shift kit won't work with this shifter? |

| :D Not sure about the shift kit, I have one, and I will see if it works when I put it in. I think it should work since it sits up by the pivot ball, and the shifter is only different at the bottom end. we will see... |

| :D OK... So I called Gene Berg, and they say that the short shift kit will work on all vanagon shifters, including 5-speed syncros, disels, and german 5-speeds. The only problem I have now is that the kit I got is for a 14mm shaft and the new shift shaft is 12mm.... I am going to go get another one in the right size tomorrow, so freaky , if you have a 14mm shaft (uh..huh..huh..you said shaft..) and want a free Gene berg short shift kit, PM me your address and I will drop it in your mail box...  |

I'm too lazy to go outside in the cold dark night, but is it obvious what I have if I pull the rubber boot and take a peek inside? I have an '84 stick shift 2wd if that makes a difference. If you want I could cruise by your place and give you a hand with the 5-speed. Of course, I knows nothing about it...so my help would be limited....... :?
thanks.... |
