View original topic: Question on seat runners?

Hi there,
I've just welded in some seat runners to my 1965 Beetler that came from a 1970-71. They seem to be a T shape - about an inch in diameter.

I'm now on the look out for seats. I was just wondering what is the range of years for front seats that I can use. I'm after a low back set. (without a head rest)
cheers,
Rich

you just added rails that only will fit a high back seat 71 or later. You have three choices. Change back to older rails, take the seat back apart and cut the head rest off or change the bottom seat of the high back to use old style seat bottom.

All are work and un less you can sue than do not try to cut the head rest off. You have to have both type of seats to make the bottom switch. If you can't come up with those then you use the rail of what ever seat you have.

Last year I got a booklet on how to covert highback seats to lowback. I've never tried it but it looks like it's pretty easy to do. At the time I got it the email address for the person selling the booklet was [email protected]
