Can anyone advise what needs to be done to a US spec bus to get it through a UK MOT. I'm looking at buying a US spec 64 bus that has all red rear light/indicator lenses. Do these need changing to red and amber? Also do the headlights need to be changed from LHD to RHD? If so, where can I get the parts? Any advice appreciated.

Thanks V,
The DVLA were ever so helpful - Not!
Found out from MOT site http://www.motuk.co.uk/manual_150.htm that vehicles before 1st Sept 1965 can have combined indicator/brake lights, So a 64 bus is exempt. What about post 65 busses? Has anyone got one of those through the MOT with the combined rear lights/indicators and all red lenses?

Thanks.

I got a 67 SC, took it to local MOT place, was asked "what year is it mate?" quick as a flash "65" "OK no probs heres yer MOT" went to DVLA for them to check it (as you will have to) I'd filled in the V55/5 as a 67, fella never questioned it just checked engine no. and VIN plate "OK mate hang around and I'll do your paperwork" 10 minutes later I buggered off with me tax and reg. no. in hand.
Nearly forgot yes you will have to change your head lights so they dip the right way, if I remember to change the sealed beam units was gonna be expensive, £40 each?, but I managed a new pair of just the glass only for £12 the pair, if you want a couple gis a shout and I'll give you the fellas number.

Hi Guys ,Post sep 65 will need red and orange lenses for mot.But if it is a
65 it should have them on anyway.i know a couple of guys have used
the old type mini sealed beam head lights very cheap and new ones very easy to get. and yes you should join the ssvc, theres so much knowledge
on that site saves you time and money. Good luck with the bus. Dave.

I'm also in the process of importing a '67 camper and wondered if I needed to fit a rear fog light. Also can I drive it from the port before it is registered or do I have to trailer it?
Any help greatly appreciated.

You wont need a fog light ,but you will need to trailer it home
as it wont be insured.good luck with it
