| On another forum I ran across a baja enthusiast that did the conversion to linkpin but what he did was use the lower beam mount and holes for the linkpin warrior beam and grinded down the top section of the framehead, Drilled holes through the framehead and used hardened bolts to hold the top torsion housing. He sent me pics and it came out really good. I would post the pics but I want to check with him first. |

Nicksan:
I posted a pic in the Gallery. I just borrowed on what someone else did, but took off less metal and welded it back together like the original framehead, using heavy plate. I used the top beam ears from the bj framehead to hold the tube. It need to be shaved off anyway for your steering (rack or stock). It is positioned exactly right, I didn't just hack the thing apart and then start welding. In my opinion, it came out alot stronger than welding on the rusted pot metal brazillian framehead that I was going to use. The strength of the mod would really depend on how you do the cutting and welding. It's going to be braced by the cage anyways, so its really just holding my beam in place til I get to that point. I'm confident that what I did is as strong as an unbraced, stock framehead, can be. I beefed up the stock welds as well. The only drawback is that you need to retain the stock wheelbase.

| Coolness. I am going to pickup a warrior beam either this week or next, but I have not decided if I should get the 8" or 10". I wont start working on it for a while though because I cannot have it sitting to long without being able to move it. Well, should I get the 8" or 10"? |

Hethen57, that looks like pretty good work. i wish i had seen something like that when i started my project i would have done the same thing.
go with the 10 inch Nicksan. even if you dont use all of the tavel in your shock with that tower the longer shock will resist shock fade better than the shorter one that uses all its travel......or so i hear. |

Another idea for using a cut down stock framehead is to use the prebuilt beam supports. Just cut the top portion of th frame head off and attach the lower tube to the frame head stock lower mount. Measure that the beam is lined up and positioned properly and then attach the top tube of the beam with the pre-built tubular beam support.
Always keep in mind when you are cutting and utilizing the stock parts to make sure you retain the right caster angle. If you mount the beam with the top tube farther forward or farther back it will change the angle of caster, affecting the cars handling and tire wear.
I second the idea of going with 10-inch shock towers.
