Take a look at the one the guys are Chirco are building. They give a pretty detailed escription of fitting a one piece front end. http://www.chirco.com/projectbaja/bajahome.htm

The Chiro site is good but I want to keep my stock gas tank. Everyone that runs a one-peice replaces the tank.

I recently performed this operation; but like you said; I also replaced the tank. I'm sure it can be done; but won't look as clean; unless you remove everything, like you were planning on replacing tank; but then built a tubular frame with sqaure stock to support it.

Did you locate your tank in the back seat or in the front? Do you have some pictures?

I will be working on this problem today and tomorrow (5/12 & 5/13). I will document the disaster as I stumble through the process.

VWBaja70, I built a a mounting assembly for my tank, 16 gal Jazz fuel cell, so that it mounts where the rear seat was and is tied into the rollcage assembly. I added a fuel filler inlet behind the driver;s rear window and plumbed the fuel cell with Earl's hoses and fittngs using bulkhead connectors to get thru the rear firewall. The 1 piece front end WAS done, but thanks to the beutifully built Baja's of Baja5 and SHMO we're going to totally redo the front using coil overs, wider beam, spindles, etc, so I guess it was a good thing I put the fuel cell in the rear seat area in the first place! hah-hah :) BTW, Baja5 and SHMO, my wife hates you! hah-hah :)

Nice, but don't forget to weld all the seams. If you plan on taking it offroad.
