| Thank you to those who made it out this past weekend!! The weather did hold out for a nice weekend. Rain poured for about 30 min. Saturday night. Luckily, it was when we were enjoying the Seafood Buffet in Middleburg. 8 Buses attended the first campout and hopefully we will grow in the future. 1 Split Window Westy, 2 Bay Window Westies, 1 Bay Window transporter, and 4 Vanagon Westies. One of the Vanagons was a aircooled 82'. The Saturday pancake breakfast didn't start until about 10am do to the late night and good times around the fire Friday. The clock said 3:50am when I tucked in for the night. Saturday was spent looking over eachother's Buses and plenty of VW tech talk(lol). 17 people went to the seafood buffet and it's always priceless when the locals see us rolling in and how many people can pop out of a VW Bus!! Saturday evening was another night of good times, games, and guitar picking around the fire. Dodged a few sprinkles here and there. Again, after going to bed at 4am, we didn't head to the show until 10 am Sunday morning. The farthest Bus to attend, was Jay in his 82' aircooled Westy, from Brooklyn,NY. Thanks Jay!! Unfortunately I am too computer illiterate to load pictures into this post. You can see the campout pictures in my picture gallery. Thank you everyone and we'll do it again next year!! |

We haven't thought of a name for the campout at Bug Meet. We plan to have that campout again next year and a name will come up before then. We have a group of 6 Buses that travel to different places and events and camp. So, I am possibly thinking of starting The Traveling Westies. A group of Bus owners who are more or less a club and meet at various events and campouts. There are only a few Buses in my hometown. Making it hard to start a solid based club. It would be a club from various towns in the Northeast, wrapped together by camping and meeting. Then, the club could have multiple campouts at VW events like Bug Meet(Beaver Springs), Super Jam(Maple Grove), John Brown's Buses(Harper's Ferry), etc. Bug Meet's campout would be the one we would host, then just be a contingent at the others. It's just a thought process now, but with feedback and interested VW owners, who knows. Anyone interested, email with your info to keep you informed.
Our next campout will be June 3-5, at Maple Grove Campground. Directly across from the track for Super Jam. 10 Buses already on the list. :D |

We're fast approaching the pre-Maple Grove campout. :P
"Traveling Westies" and friends mount up! Who's coming?
This friday-Sunday directly across the street from Maple Grove Raceway.
I'll be there Saturday afternoon.
Head count? |
