Hi, I've got a couple of questions I'm hoping someone has the answers to. First, I want to put a front transmission strap on my 76 Baja. When I look at the web all I see are strap kits that fit up to 74 bugs. I know there is a difference in the rear tranny mounts but is there a difference in the shape of the front of my 76 tranny and the earlier trannies that would preclude me from using a front strap that fits an earlier transmission? By the way, I want to use the type of strap that has rubber on it and just bolts on. I'm going to retain the stock mounts and am not going to use a rear strap.

Secondly, I have access to a Vanagon transmission that has the part number 091301103. The shift rod comes out of the side of the nose cone. It also has a hydraulic clutch slave cylinder mounted on it and connected to the cross shaft. Can I change the nose cone and shift rod to the type that comes straight out of the nose cone and can I change the cross shaft to one that uses a regular clutch cable. In other words, are all 091 trannies the same and are the differences mentioned above interchangable? THANKS!!
