Has anyone mounted a 10lb propane bottle in their luggage rack? I'm thinking of doing this to supply a portable stove and BBQ.

I've seen it done on a few bay window campers with the luggage rack in the back. I think something could be rigged up.

I've seen a guy run the hose down the sink vent hole on a hard top westy, work great.
My older Bro had the bottle under the jump seat behind the driver on his '65 westy, you loose that storage space, but thats a trade off for the owner to decide. |

I've been wondering why one couldn't plumb in an outlet on the main tank and hook up anything you could imagine. Any reason why not?? The RV places sell 10-20 ft hoses for remote lanterns/BBQs/Stoves. Seems lake a clean way to do it.

Do they make "quick disconnects" for propane? That and 20' of hose and you could run other accessories. Another setup i've seen is, the squat 10 lb. tank stowed under the rear seat. I have another real small bottle that is non OPD. Just like my westy tank in the '70 bay w/SO69 kit.

 for those who like to wander off in the bush with no itinerary or prospect of returning... howsabout mounting a stock underbelly propane tank under the right side of the van sliding door and plumb in an automatic balancing valve for a seemless switchover of tanks? Would help a little bit to combat "westy lean"... for those who are not on a budget.
