Forgive the ignorance but I have been heavy into a baja project as of late. I decided to raise the rear a few splines, but I notice now that when the spring plate recoils and hits the stop there is a loud clunk. I did upgrade to a decent - not fabulous gas shock. Is there an easy fix for this?

Just make sure your u-joint and shocks can handle the extra travel before you go carving that much off of your springplates.

Ive got a stock irs trans - I don't know the angles on the spring arm but I followed some advice from a fellow bugger :) and put the springs just to the top of the bottom bolt hole on the spring plate. The thought of tearing into that sucker again is enough to make me want to live with this.
If I go the notch route, should I need something to keep the spring arm from falling off the stop? |

notching the springplate will not make it fall off the stop. i notched my springplates extremely, but i also cut off the stops and used limit straps

My spring plates are the dual kind. Should I notch them both or just the inner plate that rests on the stop?

inner only. i started to do both, then quickly abandoned the idea. you may need to take a small amount of material out of the outer one in a few places.

Thx for the help. I am definately going to use the longer bolt trick. I just about set fire to my car in frustration after the last preloading session. Getting that cover plate back on was a SOB!
