| I was looking at a 67 912 in a junkyard today. I am thinking of buying the brakes off of it. However, the drivers side axle doesn't have any CVs or a regular axle. It has a one piece shaft with universal joints at each end. Is this stock or someones homebrew setup? The stub axle doesn't have a plate to use a CV. At the front, I was wondering if the spindles are the same as a 911. Any one want to give this a try? Thanks |

Spindles are the same as a 911. The half shafts are probably the early Nudello (sp) universal joint type since it was sometime in 1967 when Porsche switched to Lobro CVs.
Got any pix ? |

| Thanks for the help. I will try to get some pix the next time I go. Apparently, someone switched one side to CVs. Odd!-Chris |

Yes, 912's and 911's of the early years used more or less the same brake parts- meaning they're interchangable if different at all.
BUT what you're looking at on that car is early stuff. And definitely Nadella shafts on the rear.
As for the front 68' and earlier front struts / spindles are different than ALL the later stuff. They use a specific lower ball joint that's close to NLA and very expensive. If you're just talking "brakes" then the spacing between the bolts on the calipers is the what matters. Most early are 3". There are 3.5" too...and aluminum S calipers.
