| I would love to be able to do that (hook up with other westy owners and camp for awhile). How long were you there for? I love that Darkstar Westy - great looking camper with the ladder and safari rack. Lots of other good looking vans there! |

We were there from Saturday (Mid day) till about mid day Sunday. Its a cool crowd. Everyone is very friendly, even if I only met some of the people last year.
I got to see a CLEAN Tiico install by another guy (also named Dan), I was AMAZED at how FLAT that inline 4 sits! The damn thing is laying on its side! He said the biggest issue is to make sure you get the VAG.COM software to set it all up. For the most part its just a Jetta/Golf engine on its side. Neat setup...
Its also cool seeing other idea at work, awning brands, tires, wheels, I saw 2 vans with the GoWesty 16" Mich Hydroedge tires and wheels. The owners rave about them, but I dont have the $$ for it.
There are a few VW more camputs planned for 2005 here near NJ. Check out the LIMBO site http://www.limbobus.org/ for more info. You do not need to be a member to come to the campouts (but you do get a cool sticker.. :P )
Its funny, a few people split once the rain started (Type 2 owners with show busses...), but for the most part people just hung out at the dinner tent or chilled in thier vans. Nice big pot-luck dinner. |

I would love to upgrade to the 16" as well, but money issues linger. That would be fun to hang out. I have an 80 westy. I used to be into restoration, but lately have gotten big on restification. I don't want a vehicle that I am scared to drive because of rain, dirt, etc. I buy mine to have fun in!
I'll have to check out your website! Thanks Dan! |

| Hey! What's that Ford doing in there? Looks like there were some really nice rides there. Has anyone out there ever put something like this together in the southwest? |

While its a "VW" Bus event, anyone with a wierd ride is welcome. There was also a Corvair Greebrian TEC camper. I had never seen one before. And some guy with a scooter and a 4x4 Chev. van.
Last year there were two Eriba Puck ( http://www.typ3.com/puck/ ) trailers, and an Avanti.
 |
