| The seam rust under my hookups is very, very bad. i want to replace the whole body panel if it's possible. I have zero experience with body work and no access to equipment. The body shops I've checked out say it will be too expensive and won't even give me an estimate. Does anyone know of a shop in the Vancouver, B.C. area who will do this type of job, or better yet, is there anyone with experience who would be willing to help me for some $$$? Thanks! |

I can tell you...
Its a lot of work...
Too much for me, Look back a few weeks, someone had posted from a website on how to do this. I'll warn you, parts don't exisit here on North America for the job and it requires cutting metal from a donor Vanagon..

dan, have you seen this:

It's exactly what I want to do and they make it look pretty straight forward. It says you can buy the panel from VW... |

Yea, Seen that :(
But, that guy is in Europe (I think), and I am not sure you can get it from VW here in NA.
If I were to do it, I'd install a better fridge, or just an icebox with a drain out of a marine store catlogue, and leave out the vents on the side that leak over time.
I had bad rust issues, I sealed my ports down with silicone sealer to stop the issue, but my rust is all along the lower rocker.
I added Peel-N-Seal to cover it up, and then I painted it black, looks ok unless you get within 5 feet of it.
