my 70 fastback has a driver door that the latch is loose on causing the door to vibrate while driving... is there a spring, adjustment set screw or something in the mechanism that can be the cause? the passenger side opens fro the inside and closes tightly however the outside handle is free and does not catch on anything to open... anyone taken these apart???

Sounds like the latch assy is loose. Open your door and grab the latch "finger", which is what secured the door to the striker. If it wiggles, then that's likely to be the culprit. The passenger side is still tight because that door is not open as often as the driver's door.
A possible cure is either, A) remove the latch and find someone who can wire weld that part in nice and tight, or B) get a new(used) door latch. I have extras for the 1970 Type 3's. |
