66 fastback Sat Jun 18, 2005 6:04 pm

Just acquired a '66 Fastback, the car is 6v but has a 12v column from a '71 squareback. are there any 6v columns that will fit my car. as the car came with the original column, but the ignition and blinker are shot and NLA. Thanks for any help.

Early columns are hard to find. You are probably better off with a late column if it is allready converted. BUT, '71 is not a good choice, as it is a year by itself for T/S switches. You would be better off with a '68, '69, or '70. As for the voltage, the switch doesn't care. The only thing is that 6V systems pull twice as much current for the same work.

You can use a 61-67 column if you want it to look "correct" but you will have to search for one.
