View original topic: That darned "H" pipe.

Just today, I tought I was in for alot a work on "the good camper" I walked out to see a large puddle at the back of the bus. Just knew it was the water pump, has about 50K on it. Luckily it was the H pipe. Remember seeing on "Vanagain" or "Volkscafe" that they are NLA and only a metal replacement is availiable. True?

I have one in the garage, one in the shed and another on the parts beater, but lets see...they are how old? 20 years! How long did it take mine to fail? Hmmm, 20 years! There goes my great cooling system bleed. Oh well, it was time to replace the coolant anyway.

Tomorrow i'll call the nice guys (really) at the dealer plus my great source for OEM parts to check for availablity.

It's too close to High Country Bus Festival to be having issues. My inlaws and I plan on taking three campers!

I have successfully repaired those by melting the crack back together with a hot soldering iron, melting X patterns across the repair, and then packing the area with JB Weld.

Good advice. BUT...its pissin' out a flood. This is on the daily driver. Tomorrow i'm going to put on one of the old-used-stock (OUS not NOS) so I can keep getting to work. I just may go for the brass one soon. I think i'll be keeping WBX power for awhile.

You didn't mention the "got to have" constraint! Sure put the used one one and order a good one. Done.

Bus is fixed! Took about 30mins including jacking the nose up to assist air bleeding. Also noticed a cracked vac line going to fuel press reg. Perhaps that was just the way the bus wanted some attention. Treat'em like Hondas and they get mad.
