Add common problems/solutions as you can

Here we go:

Chenowth 11 point roll cage: Cage is made so a car with a 3 1/2" lift can use it. Simply cut 3 1/2" of the bottom of the 4 main tubes to make it fit a standard body.

3x3 Arms: Ask when ordering or buying 3x3 arms which brakes will fit the car. I ran into a problem with caliper mounts on these arms. Fix was to weld 1/2" thick steel tabs directly onto the arms to mount the calipers to. A side benefit was the calipers are rock solid.

Here is a pciture of the end of the arms.

i ran into a similar situation with stock drum brakes on my arms, which i believe were meant for disc brakes

99% of Latest Rage parts Suck.

The arms I was refering to are the one included in the Beanie Boy kit from VeeDub Parts. If they are latest rage then I will admit I am a latest rage fan. These arms are incredibly hefty and the welding is superb.

My 3x3's are also from the famous Beanie Boy, however i had no problems mounting my Jamar disk brakes, i guess the arms fall into the 1 % that are ok.

I went with a the cheapo "hope I stop" brand Varga brakes. Wish I knew the Jamars worked I would have sprung the extra $$.

I think it would be great if someone could post about how to reassemble a Baja Bug. I'm talking as much info as possible about the order of reassembly. I am putting together my first Baja and just have a ton of parts. I want to avoid say putting the windows in before the headliner etc. Thanks

Anybody tried putting something other than a stock headliner in? I.E. foam backed fabric. It's friggin hot where I live. Any other ideas on keeping the interior a degree or two cooler. It's supposed to be 115 today.

We have Beeline Extremes... they're fantastic... no brake issues with anything

I just put foam i the center section then covered it with tweed to match the seats, doesn't really help with temp though, maybe a little.

Post some pics of what you have done Baja5.

In the marine industry they have a insulation that looks kind of like metalic bubble wrap. that is the best way I can describe it. Possibly using something like that initailly, then covered with material might be an option. It drastically cuts the heat down in boats.

I am guessing you don't get a lot of rain in your area? Have you considered vents of some sort to let the hot air exit the car? Or, possibly adding a canvas style sun roof?

Rain? Yeah we had that once every body freaked out and started sandbagging in preperation. We probably got a 16th of an inch. My Baja was black when I got it so I hit it with some white paint. That took the temp down a tad. I was thinking about the "bubblewrap" then some type of fabric. I was told it was hard to get it straight because of the curves in the roof. It doesn't look like putting it just in the centersection would be to bad though. I imagine you tucked it into the gap running around the center section. Any pics?

Here's another one. If you go with Tweeds or other 2 1/4 x 1 trailing arms, and 3" lift combo spindles buy a beam with no shock towers. I found out the hard way. 8.5" is not quite enough travel. 10" shocks will hit when travel goes up. Hoops and 12" travel shocks are recommended.
