| Hi, like i don't have enough problems with my over heating westie...here's another dilemma!! I turned my little air vent blower knob to the "3" position, and now it is stuck there....no air comes out of the vents by the window, but the knob is stuck. Any suggestions on how to get it back to normal, without breaking it? thanks again, connie. |

THis is one of the standard vanagon things......if you leave that knob on 3 for long it will send enough current through the switch to MELT it. this is what you got .....then the switch is stuck on 3, wont turn, and doesn't blow. no problem.
ten dollar fix. ten minutes.
see the four arms that sllide side to side? Those are rubberized "boots". Pull those four arms off of there. then grab that knob that's stuck on 3 and pull it off of there. Now, that plastic plate will come right off and expose the junk behind it. That white switch where the knob attached is what you want to replace.

| by the way when you go to pull off those four sliding boots, don't twist at em, or the ends will break off. |

| Well, i took the bumper off , cleaned the engine...and i have a Engine compartment seal, but with this Hurricane coming, i cannot put it on right now..i will keep u guys posted. Thanks for all the help too. You are very knowledgeable RandyInMaine!! Hey, i am from NH. Been in Fla for about 10 years. Used to go to York and Bath a lot in Maine. Beautiful state, but i can't take the winters!! Take care, connie. |
