| is it correct that the VIN on my bug is only 10 numbers???? arent they something like 17 numbers now?? what does each number stand for and all that. is there a thread on here or something, i tried looking with no results, and i havent been able to order my manuals and stuff yet. |

Modern VINs can be decoded and have alot of info.
The 10 digit VIM has the first 2 the model, the 3rd digit is hte year and the remainder is the sequantial number. |

| so what does it mean by "model 13" is that saying its a super? im guessing thats what it is. and its a 73. my number is 1332684616 |

i always thought u could figure out original paint color and more from a VIN? ohwell....will check the motor stamp and all that tomorrow to pull together all the info i can. |

if you have the vin and everything u can order a birth certificate that will give you all the OG info...
i forgot to add to my original post, the 4th post in the search tells you where to find the vin and what it means... |

71 and 72 Supers are 11. 73-79 are 13. |
