Hello all,

My question is about the notches that are supposed to be in the control arms, mine do not have any. I have an 84 mexi beetle just put in an adjustable front end bought new ball joint and behold there is no notches. The old ball joints are exactly the same as the new ones. There is no sign of any grinding or machining on the arms at all, the B/J were probably never replaces seeing that they still had the VW logo on them. Maybe some of you have had this problem and could give me some help with this. Thanks

The notches should be on the ball joints themselves and not the torsion arms.

They line up at 12:00 and 6:00.

I just did a ball joint replacement and the trailing arm did have a small wedge indent on it. But, if you install the ball joint with the notch in line with the travel direction of the car you should be fine.
