ok, so i got to thinking... i have my gastank mounted in place of my back seat, and it will have an external filler. how do i make sure that theres not gonna be any fumes? would just really tight hose clamps and silicone around the sender work? i dont want to light a cig and burn to the ground
any ideas?
also, i got a good haul at the swap meet today... 2 baja kits, new filter, 2 solid doors, 1 pc window kit, 2 alum pulleys and a new clutch cable, grand total $85 |

Is this the stock tank?
As long as the stock rubber sender seal is in good condition you shouldnt get anything from there, The clamps are good on the filler or the cap. The most important is probably the vent, that should be run outside somewhere.
If you are getting fumes I would losen all connections, dry them off and place a bead of silicone (real silicone not caulking) on every seal. |

You might want to use RTV that is compatible with gasoline. "Real silicone" sealer will get soft in gas and cause your even more headaches than your stinky interior already does.

put a thin bead on the tube and slip the hose over it and clamp it.

ive been around... my moms only got dial up and a half working computer. im kinda at a stalemate with the car...i got someone ready to weld everything i need, but i need to get to the bug shop, and i need someone to trailer my car from my grandmas house to my moms for a few days, and many people are unreliable.
i did just get a new set of doors with 1 pc glass for $40, a 75% complete bug eye baja kit for $25 in ok cond. and another 75% complete one in pretty good shape for $10, and $5 got me a new 2 stage filter, a nice one, and 2 used alum pulleys. i also got a brand new fuel pressure guage for 50 cents.
there was a nice 1 pc street frontend with a tilt bumper for like $40. too bad i got nothin to put it on |
