i'm getting to know the new 72sb a little better. i put some gas in today and noticed a smell when i made a left turn. opened the trunk/hood to check the lines and every thing looked dry. is there a diagram of the venting lines that could be old and leaking. 2 run up towards the glove box area. without tearing apart everything i think i can narrow it down with a layout. this is way different than the bus. thanks for helping out the newbie with beetles.

There was a similar topic posted over the past week or so that should have some good info for you. From what I remember, somebody said they smelled gas after a left-hand turn because of the gas-cap seal being faulty.

I too have looked for a layout for this with no luck. Does anyone know where it can be found?
TIA

Payton: Turning left and smelling gas would probably indicate a leaky gascap. Try smelling around the gas fill nozzle and access door to see if that's it. If not, then start sniffing the hoses inside the front trunk. The post piezzi mentioned is here: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=123112

Shone: There's a drawing here, along with info on bypassing some of the original routing: http://www.superbeetlesonly.com/forum/index.php?pg=fuel
