I'm getting ready to order my shocks.
Bilstien 7100 w/res=$175 each
Fox 2.0 w/o res=$132 each
Fox 2.0 w res =$205
Any feedback on the brands would be helpful. I'm in the northeast so most travel is fairly slow on old coal roads.
Front:
Warrior Beam with 8" towers
Tweeds 2 1/4 x 1 Arms
Tweeds Combo Spindles
Single shocks in front
What valving should I use and what length (travel)?
Rear:
Beanie Boy 3x3 Arms
930 CV's
Dual shocks each side
Shocks will be mounted to roll cage in car and connect to the arms.
What valving and what length (travel)? |

| my 7100s are 14" in the back, factory valved at 360/80, fronts are 10" valved at 180/75. the valving seems to be pretty close. but dont forget that your car will weight much more than mine |

| Thanks. I was leaning towards 10" front and 12" rear but I'll get 14" rear. I guess I will go by Bilstien's pdf file for the valving. |

| I'm looking at basically the same options for my Baja. If you buy them without the reservoir, can you add that later if you decide you need it? Also, is there any significant difference in quality between those two brands? Thanks. |

you can do alot better on those prices
check orw or many other vendors for the fox's
you should be runing the 8" or 10" 2.0 resivor shocks up front with tweed arms and combo spindles you will only get around 6 1/2 " in of the shock stroke so the 8" are best
thats if you use the towers
if you mount them back to the cage then go for the 10" and get the whole stroke -1" 1/2" on top 1/2" on bottom
i have the same setup but am using the 3" lift spindles very sweet set up |

| my bilstein shocks came with o-rings on the shafts. at the beginning of the day, i moved the o-rings to the top, right underneath the body of the shock. then i beat the hell out of my car and pulled over periodically to check how far down the o-ring went. it made it to the bottom of every shock on the car. i highly believe you will need at least 10" shocks with the tweeds 2" arms |

You can check on the recommended valving for 7100's at eshocks.com.
Along those lines, I notice that the Fox Shox don't specify a particular valving when you buy them ...are they good "as-is" or do you need to get them revalved for your particular application? |

| I should clarify that I got the 3" lift combo spindles. Not that it will affect the shock length. I also am waiting to hear back from a wholesaler on prices for the shocks. Money is definately an issue. I may even end up going with Bilstien 5100. I've spent about double what I planned on this project so far and still dont have an engine. I have a stack of boxes and a rusted out old 4 colored primer body, sitting on a pan. |

| are you using a shock tower beam or having your upper mounts built into the cage? if you are using a tower beam, i believe the largest you can go is 10" if i could do it again, i would definitely go with 12" shocks. |

| I also have the tweeds arms and spindles(3in).If that helps. And about being over budget, It comes with the territory. But, if you're in it this far don't cheap out on shocks, you'll just be dissapointed in the long run. And for the record I like the bunnies. |

Jowlz,
what ever you do, don't go with the cheap 5100 or 5150 shocks. You will regret it in the long run.
I have a set of 7100's with remote reservoirs that I would be willing to sell. I think they are just what you need. I have a set of 14 inch travels for the rear and a set of 8 inch travels for the front, all being reservoir shocks. They are not knew, and would need to be cleaned up and rebuilt. However, they are a long shot better than going the "el cheapo" route.
Shoot me a PM if you're interested.

| The warrior beam I got has the towers built in. I got home tonight and will spend some time tomorrow doing some measuring and putting together one side of the my front end. Sucks I am only home for one day. SHMO definately interested in the shocks. I'll shoot you an email wednesday after I get some measurements taken tomorrow. |

| Ok. I got my answer today from Tweeds. With the extended arms and spindles and the 8" towers on the warrior beam, they said the 8" travel shocks arent enough. He said with the 10" shocks they would hit also. He recommended 12" travel shocks, cut the towers off the beam and tie the shocks into my front cage. Sounds good to me. On a side note, one of our parts suppliers carries the 7100's. I'll find out tomorrow what kind of a price I can get. |
