| You really have to remove the engine and take the fan shroud, alternator and intake off to remove the tin. |

| Well... if you want to remove it to paint it then the fan shroud, alternator and intake have to come off to remove the 2 upper cylinder pieces. It's alot easier with the engine removed. |

| Yes it is easier with it out but it CAN be done with it in and it isn't that hard. Alot of people are scared of pulling the motor lol. Just start off slow and remember what you took off and WHERE IT GOES! That wey you ddon't end up with extra pieces and a cooling problem |

Pulling the motor (for us experienced folks) is rather easy to do. comfortably out in about an hour..other will say 30 minutes. I did say comfortably.
When the engine is out then you can check it over clean stuff up to.
For now just clean it the best you can keep it tuned and oil freshened up.
Enjoy the reading the Samba. |

thanks again for all the info.
I have often thought about pulling the engine but I have never had the time or need. I heard its just 4 bolts, the tranny and some fuel/electrical lines. mabey some time when im bored ill do it.
im not new to cars just vw's so it should not be a problem |
