Have a 1.9l with stock exhaust but it is original with a couple small holes.
I'd like to replace the whole thing. Can a 2.1 system bolt right up provided I use the newer engine mount?
Will a stock replacement system such as from CIP1.com last well or are they inferior quality. Not interested in an s&s as I know they are temporary. |

Yes. No reason to unless you can get one cheap.
I had a local shop zap up an exhaust (collector-back) for $85 that I'm very pleased with (no emissions police in my area).

2.1 will work. 02 sensor is closer to the cat, its more of a 1 piece unit rather than the old 1.9 has....
No reason why you cant adapt a 2.1 in place of a 1.9 |

Thanks for the responses.
The 1.9 has a lot of braces to it. The 2.1 looks like it uses clamps, is better supported, and VW would only change something to make it better yes, so why not put the latest, is my reasoning. |
