I am replacing the window scrapers on my convertible 74. The chrome/aluminum trim is in great shape, just dirty. The rubber is trash and the steel backer is 99 44/100ths percent pure rust.
I am getting the new rubber pieces. But, how can I attach them to the aluminum trim without the little rivets and steel backer? I really don't want to deal with that rusty mess again. Can I just glue them on with something strong? How about "sew" them on as well using the rivet holes?
Any tips?

Well, I finally got the rubber seperated from the chrome and the steel isn't all that bad on three of the four scrapers. I can probably wire brush it down and paint it and figure out how to attach it again. I don't know if I want to pop rivet it in place, but I guess I could if I could find small enough rivets. Are there any other options?

| There are little clips that can be used to press the felt channel in correctly. They are kind of a PITA, but they are the correct part for the job. |
