My accelerator kept sticking - took it in April and they "lubed the cable".

Couple of days ago - same thing except this time accelerator completely stuck while driving - had to put in neutral and shut off engine, pull over, get a tow etc. Take it to dealer - same thing "Lubed the cable at the transmission". Just wondering if anyone has had similar problem and do I need more than just "lube cable" and how often will this occur? Thanks for any help

Cables have a habit of eating their housings, especially if the housing had been mis-aligned. It sounds like your cable has worn a groove somewhere in the run and is getting stuck in the groove... and/or it is fraying...

Curious, did they remove the cable for lubing or just squirt goop up the tube from the engine bay???

You can also disconnect the cable from the throttle body and check for free motion or excess slop-n-wobble in the throttle shaft... Maybe you'll find a loose nut or piece of kaka in the way!

Mike!

Manual or auto? Could the "kick down" be interferring?

Mine sorta sticks too. Wonder what a new cable and guide tube parts are going to cost?

on older engines quite a bit of blow by crud will build up on the inside of the valve causing it to stick. disconnect the cable, pull off the boot, open the valve all the way and take a look. Lots of crud could be the cause.
