| I got my frame back from the shop and it is pretty except the holes in the rear pans. I think I can weld up the one on the passenger side but the drivers sid looks like i will have to do some patching. Check it out @ www.geocities.com/dreammotorcar/050713 |

Geocities are bad about photo quality. Hard to see any detail but from what I can see it looks very good. you can get plate steel from Lowe's, cut and fabricate patches.

| Are you planning to powder coat it when you're done patching? Looks great so far! |

Dude, the pans look fine to me, are they new. If so, what holes are you talking about. There shouldn't be any holes in the pans if they are new.
The pics are unclear, maybe I missed something. |

| no those pans are original. They rusted through along the edge of the driver side rear pan. Anyone know any good techniques for smoothing out pits from rust? Bondo? |

| I wouldn't consider smoothing pan rust pits with Bondo. If you're planning to patch it anyway, cut the pits out if they fit within your replacement panel's area. Otherwise, leave them clean and painted/powder-coated. As long as the rust has been killed, you would be better off leaving them in a state that you can see their progress (hopefully lack thereof)... |

Can't you buy just the replacement rear half of the pan?
Weld that sucker in and no more rust hole wories.
I'm not sure how much those peices are, but they can,t be that much.
Just my 2 cents bro, that's the way I'd go. |

| I am not going to replace the entire pans because of a few rust spots. I think I am just going to replace the rear pans and powdercoat. I was thinking POR-15 and Paint but that wont look nearly as nice. |

Depends on what you are looking for as a finished product. If this is going to be a driver, patch and paint with POR15. If you are going to show, consider replacing the pan halves. You'll lose points with patched pans with welding scars.
