Does anyone sell new tapping plates for the door hinges on my 56? Had to drill the heads off 2 screws and was wondering if I could open up the pillar and slip in a new tapping plate for the door hinges. Also, will a 62 door work with my icepick handles if I weld up the second hole where the old handle was? Thx Much..

Yes, 1956-59 icepick door handles will fit 1960-64 doors with no problem

You can get the nut plates from any dead car in the junk yard. The upper one is easy to swap. The lower one much more difficult.

There are differences in the threaded plates, very minor though. Early cars used 8 screws per hinge vs. later cars used only 7.

Thanks for the responses, I'll scrounge some good plates from a junk car and cut them into my own pillars. Is the lower tapping plate better exposed when the heater channel is out? I have to replace this also.
