My recently aquired 56 Oval sports bias ply tires with raised lettering that reads:
Volkswagen Canada Golden Miler
I am certain these are not original (although they are cool), but the spare reads:
Dunlop
Made In Germany.
Does anyone think this is the original spare? |

| I wouldn't really want to even guess on that one. My '53 had original tires and they were Contential. :? |

I knew the newer dubs (60's)came with Continental's, but I didn't realize that anything as old as a 53 did!
It's probably safe to assume that all export dubs came with Continentals?
On an unrelated topic, is there a difference between 53 and 54 heart tail lights?
I ask because I stumbled across a 53 or 54 in a field (I am currently negotiating with the hillbillies) and the hearts on the field model looked smaller than the ones on the 54 that is for sale in the classifieds.
Is there a difference? |

I don't believe there is a size difference. But the earlier housings did not have an aperature for water drainage. Later housings of course came with the much needed hole |

To the best of my knowledge, these are VW of Canada replacement tires.
I have 3 and have seen a few sets of them.
Look at #1 here:

Thanks for the links Everett!
That made me realize that my mudflaps and door handle guards are probably Volkswagen of Canada as well. The mudflaps have that ingenious mounting system.
The Oval has the chrome fender tips and chrome A pillar guards as well, but I don't think those were VWofC issue. |
