Saw this on ebay

I got mine from this guy a while back. It was used but in good shape. He seems to have an endless supply...

what are the chances of a few things being linked together to cause this idle issue? meaning a couple days ago i started hearing some rattling noises in around the engine area. in doing some research i'm thinking it's the catalytic converter (it's the original and has 224k miles on it). if the cat is clogged and limiting performance would it be normal for the sensors to compensate and run the engine at a higher idle??

just a randon theory as i'm not in the know to really know if you know what i mean. :?

It's easy enough to take a plastic hammer and whack your cat when it is cold. For that matter, it is time for a new one anyways. In So Cali here, you would most likely not be passing smog anyways. Don't know about Oregon. If you have a large power loss, then the cat can be suspected. But, if it is just a rattle, I think not the cat. I never heard a rattle before a cat collapsed. But, the rising idle is indictative of a the idle motor. Pinch it off and see what happens. Stop guessing. Try some diagnostics.
