I still have yet to do the arms I have been talking about for years, There is a "how-to" article in the Hot vw's a couple of years back in one of the decenber "baja" issues. I have it off to the side on my office waiting for the day I get off my ass to do it if you need me to dig up the year of the issue.
I think it a great way to go if have to retain your shock mounts, but the downside is they can snag things depending on terrian you run in :( |

| can you move the shock mounts to the top? this is what i was thinking about doing, and fabbing new upper mounts for the shocks. i'll look thru my back issues for that article. |

Hi Herbie
I have an experience with the prowlers i.r.s. beef up kit.
this is way to go if you want to retain the stock bottom shock mount.
I think very nice except can't ran the disc brakes.
only accept the drum brakes.
disc brakes came from SO cal Import with the hand brakes.
Take Care

Hi maybe you're talking about box beef kit...?
previous post was prowlers IRS beef kit for the rear trailing arms.
which accept several pipe like reinforcements.
I did not use it on my Baja bug yet. if you want I can take the detail photo
tonight and post tomorow.
let me know
Roy :D |

I don't see why you couldn't. Those "universal" shock mount plates are available through everyone and can be fabbed onto the og arm itself. Theyre are two style avail too (for the prowler kits) with or without stock shock mounts. I bet you could easly fab really good supports for shocks going from the arm to the beef kit as well.
Go about 4 years back, it was definitly a "baja" issue and those were December or january. |
